Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) announced eight South Dakotans will be attending the United States service academies. They will begin their military training at their respective schools this summer. Johnson nominated each of these students in December 2024 and they recently accepted their appointment offers.
BIG Update
This week the Midwest Honor Flight came to D.C., and I had the opportunity to greet the 85 veterans at the World War II Memorial. The Honor Flight does a great job of bringing veterans to our nation’s capital to see the memorials dedicated to their service. It’s always an honor to meet them and thank them for their service.

BIG News
Valley Queen completed its expansion in Milbank, and I was excited to see the completed project firsthand. Investments in dairy production are vital to South Dakota producers. Each year, Valley Queen receives 1.8 billion pounds of milk from farms in South Dakota and Minnesota to produce 200 million pounds of cheese. I’m grateful for their continued investment in our state.
BIG Update
It’s important to honor the sacrifices our service members have made to protect our freedoms. Last week, I recognized 15 Vietnam-era veterans in Sturgis and thanked them for their service to our country.
BIG Update
I had a great week visiting seniors young and old—high school seniors and senior citizens—across South Dakota this week. I can tell they’re all paying attention to the news because they had great questions about the border, TikTok, and Trump’s first few weeks in office, especially about tariffs and government efficiency.
I always love getting out in the state to talk to real people like you. It keeps me focused on the most important part of my job – serving South Dakota.
BIG Update
A federal court recently ruled that Congress does have the authority to force a sale of TikTok from its current owner, ByteDance. A bill that was signed into law this year would do exactly that, or else TikTok would no longer be allowed to operate in America. TikTok is Chinese malware that is installed on more than 100 million American devices, giving China access to users’ passwords, internet history, voice, fingerprint, and facial data, and more.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed the annual defense package, which included two provisions led by U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.). The bill provides a substantial pay raise to troops, ends politically woke policies, strengthens America’s military, and gets tough on China. Johnson voted to pass the bill.
BIG Update
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director testified in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee this week to address concerns about the Agency’s response to disasters. It was recently reported that employees were directed to skip homes that displayed Trump signs or flags.
I joined Fox Business to discuss the hearing. You can watch my conversation by clicking here or the image below.
BIG Update
Our nation’s veterans served to protect our freedoms – like our freedom to vote, to own a firearm, and to express our religion and speech. We are all a part of the greatest country in the history of the world, which has remained that way because of those who were willing to fight for and defend freedom. Our military is the best in the world because of the strength of our servicemen and women. This Veterans Day, be sure to thank a current or former servicemember for their sacrifice to keep America great.
