BIG Update
Earlier this week, I met with police chiefs and sheriffs from across South Dakota to talk about public safety. Our law enforcement officers are on the front lines protecting our state. Because they understand better than anyone what support our communities need, I keep in touch with them regularly.
BIG Update
The overflow of illicit substances into our country has made our communities less safe and strained public resources. This influx of dangerous drugs was exacerbated by a previously unsecured southern border and the continued flow of fentanyl from China. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, 42% of pills tested for fentanyl contained at least 2mg of the substance, which is considered a potentially lethal dose. Today, fentanyl is tragically the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) joined 71 House lawmakers in a letter to U.S. Department of Treasury (Treasury) Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Jamieson Greer urging them to combat the flow of illicit Chinese e-cigarettes and vapes from flooding into American markets without approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
BIG Update
This week, the House Agriculture Committee passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act, also known as the Farm Bill, with a bipartisan 34-17 vote. I’ve met with ag producers across South Dakota and they all agree – we need a Farm Bill.
The Black Hills Stock Show kicks off this weekend in Rapid City, and there’s no event that captures the spirit of South Dakota quite like it. Each year, the Stock Show brings people together for world-class rodeos, concerts, vendors, and fellowship. It’s a true celebration of our ag heritage and the hardworking folks who make our state great. I’ll be at the Stock Show this weekend and next, and look forward to visiting with folks from across South Dakota and the region.

Ocean shipping is the backbone of international trade, allowing American products to be sold in other countries while giving American businesses and consumers access to goods we don’t make. Even in America’s heartland, ocean shipping is an integral part of our economy.

BIG Update
Unnecessary federal regulations drive up costs for consumers. I’ve been working to undo burdensome red tape and make life more affordable for American families. It’s estimated that American households pay an average of $16,016 per year in hidden regulatory costs. Those federal rules affect many aspects of day-to-day life including auto emissions, energy efficiency standards on appliances, building code, health and food requirements, and more.
