Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which included several of U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson’s (R-S.D.) priorities. The bill includes provisions to strengthen deterrence against China, prohibit men from competing in women’s sports at military academies, and robust funding for B-21 aircraft procurement. Johnson voted to pass the legislation.
This coming Tuesday is an opportunity to thank the brave men and women who have served our country. South Dakota is home to more than 60,000 veterans who served from World War II through today. Veterans Day is an important reminder to take time to thank those who sacrificed to preserve and protect the United States. Our military is the best in the world because of the strength of our service men and women.

Charlie Kirk was a family man and a young, conservative leader in politics. He was known for his spirited debates where he respectfully engaged with others about the issues facing America. Our nation is mourning the assassination of Charlie. I join with many others in praying for his wife and two young kids and hope that God comforts them in this tragic loss.

I joined the Peaceful Pines Senior Living Center in Huron to talk about my work in Washington and the policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill that will help seniors. Policies like cutting taxes on Social Security, expanding access to home and community-based care, and ensuring longevity for health and social programs will make a meaningful impact on the lives of many seniors.

Dakotafest showcases the best of South Dakota agriculture. I joined our senators and the South Dakota Farm Bureau to discuss the Farm Bill, conservation programs, agricultural research, and the need to protect American farmland from being purchased by China and other adversaries. Farm security is national security, and it is vital that the U.S. works to secure our agricultural land from the Chinese Communist Party and affiliated groups.

I’ve recognized over 60 Vietnam-era veterans so far this year, including eight veterans in Hot Springs this week. These men and women answered the call to serve, and we owe them the gratitude they didn’t receive when they returned home after the Vietnam War.

House Republicans demonstrated our commitment to our men and women in uniform by ensuring the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (VA) funding bill was the first annual funding bill we considered and passed in the House.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) introduced the Protection of Women in Sports at Military Academies Act to prohibit biological males from competing in women’s sports at United States military service academies.
“This is not a new concept – biological males and females should compete on separate playing fields,” said Johnson. “Our military service academies should remain focused on military readiness – not woke policies.”
