Washington, D.C. – Today, in the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, legislation introduced by U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) passed unanimously out of the committee.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson announced Isabelle Hastings, from Sioux Falls, as the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for South Dakota. Hastings’ acrylic painting, “Blushing” received the top ranking from the South Dakota Arts Council. Hastings is a freshman at Jefferson High School, and her art teacher is Brittany Carmany. The artwork will be on exhibit in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S.

Washington, D.C. – This week, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) introduced the bipartisan Strengthening the Agriculture and Food Supply Chain Act, which would create a dedicated task force at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to evaluate the reliability of the American food supply chain and provide recommendations to Congress to prevent future supply chain issues.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) questioning its lack of action on the ongoing baby formula shortage. South Dakota has an out-of-stock rate of over 50%. FDA became aware of contamination at Abbott Nutrition as early as September 2021 and found an increased level of bacteria in January 2022.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), alongside Reps. Greg Murphy (R-NC) and Dusty Johnson (R-SD), introduced the Stop Reckless Student Loan Actions Act, would end President Biden’s un-targeted suspension of repayments on qualifying federal student loans. The bill would still allow the president to temporarily suspend repayment for low- and middle-income borrowers in future national emergencies and would prohibit the president from cancelling outstanding federal student loan obligations due to a national emergency.
