I joined the Peaceful Pines Senior Living Center in Huron to talk about my work in Washington and the policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill that will help seniors. Policies like cutting taxes on Social Security, expanding access to home and community-based care, and ensuring longevity for health and social programs will make a meaningful impact on the lives of many seniors.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO/AP) — A bill in Washington with bipartisan backing would prevent members of Congress from trading of individual stocks. Among the supporters is South Dakota’s only member of the U.S. House Republican Dusty Johnson.

Dakotafest showcases the best of South Dakota agriculture. I joined our senators and the South Dakota Farm Bureau to discuss the Farm Bill, conservation programs, agricultural research, and the need to protect American farmland from being purchased by China and other adversaries. Farm security is national security, and it is vital that the U.S. works to secure our agricultural land from the Chinese Communist Party and affiliated groups.
John, Jim and Susan Fitzgerald have always been proud of their late brother Tom's military service.
The trio was among a crowd of about 80 people who came out to honor Vietnam veterans at the Post 22 American Legion Hall in Rapid City.
The pinning ceremony, hosted by U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-South Dakota, on Tuesday, recognized the service of about 45 veterans. Tom Fitzgerald was the only posthumous honoree of the day. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 through 1970 during the Vietnam War. He died in December 2024.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - South Dakota Representative Dusty Johnson wants more transparency in Congress.
Now, he’s pushing to pass the TRUST in Congress Act when lawmakers return to D.C in September.
Johnson said members of Congress should not be buying and selling stock.
He tells us this legislation, which was first introduced in 2023, would ensure they are playing by fair rules. It would require members to put specific investments into a qualified blind trust until 180 days after the end of a lawmaker’s tenure.

Law enforcement officers face risks every day to protect their communities. On Sunday, I joined Sheriff Pat West in Sturgis to thank officers serving during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. These brave men and women are responsible for keeping South Dakotans and visitors safe. Many of these officers work overtime to keep us safe, and thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill this overtime pay will be tax free.

I’ve recognized over 60 Vietnam-era veterans so far this year, including eight veterans in Hot Springs this week. These men and women answered the call to serve, and we owe them the gratitude they didn’t receive when they returned home after the Vietnam War.

“It’s evident the Isaksons have a big heart for fostering and adoption, providing a loving home for kids who need one,” said Johnson. “Adoption is a truly selfless decision and a meaningful way to continue growing a family. I’m proud to highlight the Isaksons’ story as this year’s Angels in Adoption honorees.”
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, re-introduced his legislation to prohibit the Department of Transportation from using foreign adversary digital 3-D mapping technology, LiDAR. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology creates 3-D maps with millimeter-level data of surrounding environments.
