BIG Update
July 4 marks 248 years of American pride and patriotism. As we celebrate by going to local parades, hosting a cookout, or watching the fireworks, we remember our greatest values: freedom, faith, and family. Our Founding Fathers shaped our nation with a vision to uphold these ideals and I aim to do the same in Congress to move America towards a more perfect union.
I joined Governor Noem for her Tribal Public Safety Crisis Summit on Monday for a conversation to find solutions to the violent crime crisis on Indian reservations. Local Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were participating in the event but were told by Department of Justice (DOJ) officials that they could not be at the summit if I was present. Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland’s Deputy gave this directive.
It’s almost the 4th of July, which is one of the best times to visit our nation’s capital. Washington, D.C. has endless activities. From checking out any of the more than 80 museums, attending a major league sports game, or visiting some of the most famous memorials, there is something for everyone. If you’re planning a trip to visit D.C. this summer, here are a few things to remember to have a fun and memorable trip.

80 years ago, U.S., British, and Canadian troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in a stunning display of bravery in the fight for liberty and freedom. The actions of these men changed the course of history. Every June 6, we remember and honor their legacy, courage, and sacrifice.
Life is a series of choices. Some of these choices determine the direction of our life from a young age. Eleven brave South Dakotans, who made the decision to attend a service academy and join our nation’s military, are about to begin their military training at the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy, and the United States Naval Academy.

The Farm Bill is an essential piece of legislation for farm and ranch country. It’s renewed every five years, allowing members of Congress to update programs in the bill to better serve rural America.
