I’m revamping the Weekly Column to give you a greater look at what’s happening in Washington, D.C.
My experience as an intern in Congressman Johnson’s district office has been full of new experiences, learning curves, and limitless opportunities. I have seen firsthand the impact Congressman Johnson and his staff have on everyday South Dakotans and all they do to lend a helping hand.
August has been a busy month! Every year, Congress has an extended “district work period.” It’s a time where members of Congress stop traveling back and forth to Washington and spend August in their home state to attend events or much-needed meetings, visit with constituents at fairs, sit down with business owners and community leaders, and host town halls.
When I was a teenager, I was eager to start my first job. When I wasn’t doing homework or running track, I wanted something else to do – I didn’t like to sit around. A part-time job was a great option for me. Plus, I really needed the extra cash if I wanted to go on dates or have gas money.
