BIG Update
July 4 marks 248 years of American pride and patriotism. As we celebrate by going to local parades, hosting a cookout, or watching the fireworks, we remember our greatest values: freedom, faith, and family. Our Founding Fathers shaped our nation with a vision to uphold these ideals and I aim to do the same in Congress to move America towards a more perfect union.

Gov. Kristi Noem held a press briefing in Dakota Dunes on Monday to give an update about storms and flooding in southeast South Dakota.
Rep. Dusty Johnson and leaders involved with emergency response also spoke at the press briefing in North Sioux City, South Dakota.
Gov. Noem said we all need to respect flood waters, and residents are asked to stay out of flooded areas.
Noem highlighted how quickly things can turn or worsen, noting a levee had to be built within a few hours this weekend.

It’s Police Week and the House passed several bills this week to show our support for law enforcement officers. Our men and women in blue sacrifice greatly to protect our communities, whether that is by the border, in Washington, D.C., or on reservations. Here’s a few bills I voted on to support those in blue:
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, applauded final passage of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act, which ensures continuity and stability of our air travel and makes key improvements to our aviation sector. The FAA Reauthorization Act included key Johnson-led provisions.
South Dakota Public Broadcasting
South Dakota Republican Rep. Dusty Johnson has introduced legislation he said will improve rural broadband infrastructure.
The FOREST Act, or Facilitating Optimal and Rapid Expansion and Sitting of Telecommunications, aims to simplify resources for rural communities looking to upgrade.
