RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Representative Dusty Johnson was at the Black Hills Stock Show Friday to speak with constituents about agricultural issues.

There’s been growing concern among ag producers about the growing cost of maintaining a farm or ranch.

Johnson says the rise of prices of equipment is a result of growing inflation and says the federal government needs to take a step back from the ag industry.

This weekend is the 64th annual Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo in Rapid City. I am looking forward to attending along with over 330,000 others from across the country. I have gone to the Stock Show a dozen times, and it continues to be one of the best ways to hear from ranchers and producers in the state, catch up with old friends, and keep a pulse on South Dakota ag.

South Dakota's lone U.S. representative is excited about Northern State University's new Center for Public History and Civic Engagement.

U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., was the guest speaker at Northern's grand opening celebration for the center in the Centennial Rooms of the student union. Northern President Neal Schnoor said Monday's event christens the center, which aims to advance public education and greater civic knowledge.

U.S. Reps. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Tom Cole (R-OK) on Jan. 13 introduced a bipartisan bill that would grant a federal charter to the National American Indian Veterans Inc. (NAIV), a nonprofit organization headquartered in South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Reservation that advocates for Native Americans who served in the United States military.
