Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) and Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA-07) introduced the State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Fiscal Recovery, Infrastructure, and Disaster Relief Flexibility Act, to make various infrastructure investments eligible for payment with existing unspent COVID-19 relief funds.

Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) and Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA-07) introduced the State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Fiscal Recovery, Infrastructure, and Disaster Relief Flexibility Act, to make various infrastructure investments eligible for payment with unspent COVID-19 relief funds. The legislation recently passed the U.S. Senate unanimously.
More than 10,000 bills get introduced in Congress each year. Most of them, even good ones, don't see legislative action. It's even more challenging to pass a bill when you aren't the political party in power. Despite the long odds, I was able to pass an important cattle industry bill out of committee this week.

Harris and Hargreaves are visiting Washington for the Council of Chief State School Officers National Teacher of the Year Program D.C. Advocacy Day. During their meeting with Johnson they discussed education policy issues facing South Dakota's teachers.
