WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) and U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today announced that they are accepting applications to the U.S. service academies for the class entering in the summer of 2025.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) is seeking internship applications for the fall in his Washington, D.C., Rapid City, Aberdeen, and Sioux Falls offices.

Eleven brave South Dakotans, who made the decision to attend a service academy and join our nation’s military, are about to begin their military training at the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy, and the United States Naval Academy.
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) announced nine South Dakotans have accepted Service Academy appointments to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. They will begin military training at their respective schools in June.
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) announced Eva Madsen from Aberdeen as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for South Dakota. Madsen’s drawing “Freckle Face” is a self-portrait highlighting her unique facial features surrounded by blooming roses. Madsen is finishing her senior year at Roncalli High School. Her art teacher is Amy Heinz. The artwork will be on exhibit for the next year in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S.
