More on Congress
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) voted to pass the House budget resolution, kicking off the reconciliation process for the House.
“Insolvency cannot be an option,” said Johnson. “I refuse to stand idly by while our government spends its way into oblivion. Cuts must be made to end systemic waste, fraud, and abuse. Now is the time to put America on the right path.”
What the bill allows the House to do:
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) re-introduced his America Works Act to reinforce work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Federal law requires ABAWDs younger than 55 years old to participate in work, training, or education for 20 hours a week. However, several states have identified loopholes to not enforce work requirements.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) announced that his office is seeking internship applicants for the summer in his Washington, D.C., Rapid City, Aberdeen, and Sioux Falls offices.
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) applauded the U.S. Senate’s quick confirmation of Governor Kristi Noem to be President Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security. The Senate voted to secure her confirmation by a vote of 59-34.
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) has been named Chair of the Congressional subcommittee overseeing rural broadband development efforts. Prior to joining the U.S. House, Johnson was the co-owner of a South Dakota engineering and consulting firm specializing in rural broadband.
BIG Update
Over the weekend, I joined President Trump for dinner to discuss legislative plans for the next year. In just a few days, I’ll be attending his inauguration to watch him take the oath of office. I’m ready to have a president in the White House who will secure the border, project strength abroad, and unleash American energy.
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), Chip Roy (R-TX), and Seth Magaziner (D-RI) re-introduced the bipartisan TRUST in Congress Act to prohibit Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from trading individual stocks during their time in Congress.
BIG Update
On Monday, January 6, I attended the Joint Session to count electoral votes of the 2024 election, confirming that President Donald Trump won the election. With less than two weeks until the inauguration, I’m looking forward to having a president in the White House who will help secure the border, cut spending, get tough on China, and make government more efficient.
BIG Idea
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) issued the following statement after taking the oath of office and being sworn in as South Dakota’s lone representative in the U.S. House:
Over the past four years, Americans have been burdened by the results of the Biden Administration’s policies, like an open border, high inflation, mandates that are increasingly difficult to meet for energy production, vehicle emissions, health care, firearms, and more.
