I joined the Peaceful Pines Senior Living Center in Huron to talk about my work in Washington and the policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill that will help seniors. Policies like cutting taxes on Social Security, expanding access to home and community-based care, and ensuring longevity for health and social programs will make a meaningful impact on the lives of many seniors.

Dakotafest showcases the best of South Dakota agriculture. I joined our senators and the South Dakota Farm Bureau to discuss the Farm Bill, conservation programs, agricultural research, and the need to protect American farmland from being purchased by China and other adversaries. Farm security is national security, and it is vital that the U.S. works to secure our agricultural land from the Chinese Communist Party and affiliated groups.
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, re-introduced his legislation to prohibit the Department of Transportation from using foreign adversary digital 3-D mapping technology, LiDAR. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology creates 3-D maps with millimeter-level data of surrounding environments.

America must protect our national security – that must be the first priority. But beyond our borders, America needs a strong, prepared, and focused military to keep us secure at home and protect our allies from the threat of invasion from communist, dictatorial regimes like China and Russia.
America is safer and more secure when we have an engaged and strong presence in global affairs. In the face of international conflict, America has a choice – to lead or retreat. In stark contrast to our former president, President Trump has chosen to lead.
By Rep. Dusty Johnson in The Washington Times
The United States relies on global trade and strong supply chains to meet domestic demand and boost American production, but one nation China has manipulated America’s economy to its advantage, undermining American businesses, consumers, and national security. China exploits loopholes in our trade laws and has attempted to gain a chokehold on American ports and foreign ones like the Panama Canal. Their actions are not an accident, but a deliberate attempt to grow their influence and dominance. The Chinese Communist Party is not our friend.
BIG Update
The House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to strengthen election security. The SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections and requires states to remove noncitizens from existing voter rolls. Only U.S. citizens should be voting in U.S. elections.
