BIG Update 

I recently joined Bloomberg to discuss the ongoing government funding negotiations and my legislation to establish basic guardrails for digital assets in the United States. My bill, the CLARITY Act, establishes a much-needed regulatory framework for digital assets. America can lead in this space, but innovators and investors need to know the rules of the road. The bill has already passed the House with bipartisan support, and I look forward to the Senate taking action soon.

BIG Idea 

South Dakota’s farmers and ranchers understand the importance of strong trade markets for their products. In fact, 95% of the world’s consumers live outside the United States. I spoke at the Midwest Ag Export Summit about how South Dakota can grow the next generation of innovation and economic opportunity.

The House-passed Farm Bill includes investments to expand agricultural exports and help American producers establish new markets for their products. More markets mean more opportunities and greater prosperity for our farmers and ranchers. Agreements like USMCA are also critical to maintaining reliable trading partners and ensuring South Dakota producers can compete in the global marketplace.

It was great to join Senator Thune and representatives from several of our key trading partners at this important event. Strong trade relationships help create stronger opportunities for South Dakota agriculture. 

BIG News 

Last week, President Trump announced new initiatives to strengthen American mining and expand the workforce needed to produce critical minerals. The United States cannot rely on China for access to these essential resources. The South Dakota School of Mines is slated to receive $25 million to grow the mining workforce and give America a competitive edge. I’m glad South Dakota students will play a leading role in these efforts. Securing our supply chains, expanding domestic production, and strengthening American manufacturing are vital to our economic and national security.
