On the last Monday of every May, our nation pays special tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Our celebration of Memorial Day dates back to the Civil War, when fellow Americans began honoring the countless soldiers who lost their lives in battle. Memorial Day is often filled with picnics and parades, but its important to take a moment to truly reflect on the solemnity of the day.

Washington, D.C. – Today the U.S. House passed legislation led by U.S. Representatives Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) that connects Native veterans to VA services and vocational training by extending the VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) program to Tribal Colleges and Universities in South Dakota. The Native VetSuccess at Tribal Colleges and Universities Pilot Program Act also provides high-tech field training for veterans to ensure they are placed in well-paying, long-term jobs.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) and U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D) today led several of their colleagues in urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to continue the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into the nation's four biggest meatpackers. Thune and Johnson's bicameral letter also requested that DOJ provide Congress with updates on its investigation and encouraged ongoing vigilance on this issue.

But if we really want to get back to normal, that means getting back to work. If you walk down Main Street in most towns across America, you'll spot "Help Wanted" signs in most windows. There are more than eight million job openings in our country right now, but nearly ten million Americans aren't working.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson released a video that may reflect how a lot of us feel.

The video shows the congressman giving advice on what we can do with masks when they are longer needed. The video shows Johnson using his old mask as a drink cuzzi, a cleaning cloth and a pocket square to name a few uses. All set to Taylor Swift's "Shake it off."

Johnson hasn't always been so nonchalant about mask wearing, for instance this video from November of last year, during the height of the pandemic.

Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., and Sen. Roger Marshall R-Kansas, introduced Tuesday the bicameral Get Americans Back to Work Act, a bill to remove the federal supplemental unemployment benefit by June 30.

Job openings have reached a record high of 8.1 million and more than 35% of Americans are fully vaccinated. According to the recent jobs report, employment rose by only 266,000 jobs in April — far below the estimated 1 million new jobs projected by economists for April.
