BIG Update

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence, we have a chance to reflect on the ideals that launched the American experiment. America’s founding was centered on the thought that citizens deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In many ways, the semiquincentennial is a reminder that American exceptionalism isn’t a fixed status, it’s a challenge. Each generation must take up these values and preserve them for the next.

Americans across the country will join together to celebrate this special Fourth of July. In South Dakota, fireworks above the Great Faces of Mount Rushmore create an incredible display of patriotism and will be broadcast nationwide. It’s an honor for South Dakota to host this display for the country to enjoy.

BIG Idea

We continue to learn more about impact social media and other online platforms can have on our kids. This week, the House passed the Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act with my support. This legislation provides real, 21st century solutions to the dangers that children and teens may face online. Tech companies will now have federal guidelines for design features, default settings, and kids’ privacy. I met with the Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota in D.C. to talk about the importance of this legislation and other ways we can protect our kids.

BIG News

This week also marks the one-year anniversary of the Working Families Tax Cuts becoming law. This legislation ensured working families keep more of their hard-earned money, supported job creation, and secured the southern border. There were literally hundreds of policies, tax cuts, and investments in the Working Families Tax Cuts that will benefit millions of Americans.

Americans have already seen some of these benefits boost their pocketbook during tax season. Starting next week, Trump Accounts will open to contributions and start building the American Dream for the next generation.
