Johnson Addresses Food Security Threat by CCP
Washington, D.C. – This week, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) spoke at the Congressional Western Caucus forum “The Danger of the CCP Buying American Farmland.” As a member of the Select Committee on the CCP and the House Ag Committee, Johnson is a leader on the Promoting Agriculture Safeguards and Security (PASS) Act,Foreign Adversary Risk Management (FARM) Act, and the Protecting U.S. Farmland and Sensitive Sites From Foreign Adversaries Act.
“Food security is national security, and I think we should be immediately distrustful of any attempt by the CCP to gain coercive economic power over American food,” said Johnson. “While the Chinese people are not our enemies, while foreign investment is not an enemy, we do want to be far more thoughtful about making sure that any investment serves American interests.”
