Johnson Tours West River Vaccination Site

February 19, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) toured the Rapid City Monument Health COVID-19 vaccine center. South Dakota continues to rank in the top ten of states for vaccine distribution.

"Vaccines work, and what South Dakota is doing is working, as well," said Johnson. "Our state has been a national leader in vaccine deployment, and today's tour helped me understand why. The coordinated efforts of state government and healthcare providers like Monument are saving lives and allowing us to keep our schools open and our economy growing."

Monument Health Rapid City Hospital serves as the central holding and distribution center for the COVID-19 vaccine for all of western South Dakota. In addition to allocating doses to Monument Health hospitals in Spearfish, Sturgis, Custer, Lead-Deadwood; doses are also sent to health care systems in Bennet and Fall River County, Philip-Kadoka and three Horizon clinics that operate in White River, Faith, and Mission.

South Dakotans who live West River are encouraged to sign-up for the vaccine waitlist at https://vaccineregister.monument.health/. Nearly 28,000 individuals from western South Dakota have registered for the vaccine waitlist. Anyone older than 16 is encouraged to use the sign-up sheet to indicate their interest in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. As new priority groups are eligible to receive their vaccine Monument Health will call those on the waitlist.
